No, this won’t be a post about breakups, or even relationships in general. There’s so many blog posts dedicated to that topic, and while I’ll get there eventually, this is not one about romance. Or at least about break ups.
This is about friendship. And letting go.

First off, oops … real life got crazy busy this last month.
I celebrated my birthday, took a long weekend to go to a folk music festival, and I finalized my student visa application for my time in Brighton.
And now I’m back with another blog post … one that I feel is very close to my own life.
I’m 23 now, and in less than two months, I’ll be moving across the ocean to do something that I’ve never, ever done before. Go to university.

Inspiration is a weird concept, especially when it comes to finding a celebrity, or even someone remotely notable, who inspires you. You go off, choose someone who you’ve never met (and might never have the chance to) and decide that their ideas and persona inspire you to become a better person. The majority of the time, inspiration and idolization can come from the people around us, but more often than not, it comes from the people we see in the media. Today’s world includes the all-too popular distractions of social media, which can be both a blessing and a curse. Between seeing people’s worlds change through Facebook, unattainable “goals” while scrolling through an Instagram feed, and seemingly petty drama between Twitter conversations – social media can become a trap for many people. “I don’t think I’d ever be able to be apart that long.”
“How do you deal with not seeing her every few months?”
“Are you sure that she’s actually real?”
“Maybe when you meet, you two can see if there’s the potential for a relationship.”
The comments go on and on, but the past two years have been the most interesting, eye opening and wonderful years of my life. You always hear about long distance relationships when it comes to high-school sweethearts going to different universities, someone’s partner enlisting in the military, or someone who finds their relationship put on hold due to separation in some sort of way. But with today’s technology, mostly the internet – no one talks about the long distance relationships that begin before the two of you have even met.

I think that most of you know by now that I travelled to London last winter for almost two weeks, but I’ve never really talked a lot about my tip. But here, I’m going to do that. I’ll talk about my favorite things that I did, people I met, places I saw – you get the picture. The positive side is that I really never had a “bad” moment on this trip, that is until I had to start packing to come home, so a wonderful happy post about everything that I did in the ten days when I explored the city on my own.
First off, you should all know that this was my first big solo trip that I had taken. In the past, I have traveled alone to visit friends and family, but I’ve always known the people who I was staying with. There is the small exception of when I went down to Connecticut for a night to attend a dear friend’s book signing and poetry reading, but other than that, I’ve always stayed with people I know. And visiting London has always been a dream of mine, but I never planned on exactly how incredible this experience would be.
So, without further ado … London 2016.
(The following post will contain a lot of links to various places that I visited throughout my trip, in case you’re curious about my favorite things.)

Some of you may already know me, probably most of you do, but I’m here to start talking about my life, my travels – anything that comes to mind. Some posts will focus on my past, some on my future plans, some on the people around me – again, you get the idea. But today’s post is simply an introductory post about me, about what I’m about and a short summary of my life.
I don’t really have a plan for when I’ll be updating, I think it will depend on my schedule and the events in my life. But I hope to make at least one post a week, whether it’s to talk about new things in my life, reflect on my past, or talk about something as random as what I might have cooked for dinner, or something funny that might have happened at work.
Also, if any of you happen to be following my university updates blog, I will be phasing that one out soon and transferring the updates over to this one instead.
All right – now that all of that has be addressed, I want to officially welcome you to my blog. I don’t know what this will be about, but I hope you’ll learn some things about who I am, enjoy hearing about my life, and such other things.
